The Cleveland Browns have been at the center of a lot of drama in the last year.
While Kevin Stefanksi and the Browns sit at 3-11 after another loss, this time to the Chicago Bears in Week 15, some more drama has come to the surface.
The drama revolves around Shedeur Sanders' wristband. He has the playcalls on his wristband, but there was an issue with it early in the game, which led to the Browns and Stefanski changing it, likely to the correct playcalls.
It's a big problem that Sanders didn't have the right play calls to start the game. That's not an acceptable situation for any player, let alone an NFL quarterback.
After the game, Stefanski was asked about the wristband issue, and his answer was a ridiculous excuse that only leaves more questions than answers.
Shedeur Sanders' wristband drama met with ridiculous excuse from Browns' Kevin Stefanski
"There was a miscommunication early." Stefanski said on 92.3 The Fan, "The wristband got something on it or whatever it was.... We got that fixed pretty quickly."

This answer from Stefanski doesn't go into great detail about what was wrong with the wristband specifically. When asked about whether the wristband had the wrong plays on it or not, Stefanski shut it down.
But there was still an issue, and at the NFL level, not having the quarterback prepared with the right playsheet is a coaching and communication issue.
This might not be all Stefanski's fault, nor would it be Sanders' fault, but the issue is still emblematic of the Browns' struggles this season.
Combined with this ridiculous response from Stefanski, which was a non-answer that didn't delve into the root of the issue or reveal what exactly went wrong, the trust with the fan base is falling apart.

When Sanders was asked about what happened with his wristband, he explained that, "The card just fell out. It just fell out on the sideline. That was it."
This drama all stems from a report from Allison Williams of the NFL on Fox in the second quarter. She reported that the Browns removed the wristband and made some changes to it for Sanders after a brutal first quarter.
In that first quarter, the Browns had three possessions and went three-and-out each time, getting a combined 16 yards in the process, with seven yards on the final drive coming after the wristband change was made.
This entire issue is a brutal encapsulation of the Browns' struggles this season. Despite Sanders showing flashes at times this season, there is always something holding him back from fully taking the reins of the quarterback room.
It's been a messy season for Cleveland, and this wristband drama with Stefanski and Sanders is just another note in a frustrating season for the Browns in 2025.
