After delivering a win for the Cleveland Browns in his first career NFL game, quarterback Shedeur Sanders had a strong message for his doubters and critics.
Following Cleveland's 24-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Sanders made it known that anyone who predicted or cheered for his failure will continue to be disappointed.
"A lot of people wanted to see me fail. You know, it ain't gonna happen," Sanders said in his postgame press conference in a video shared by the Browns on X.
The win was the first of its kind for the Browns in a long time. Sanders became the first Cleveland quarterback to win his first NFL start since the team was reintroduced in 1999. The last Browns' rookie quarterback to win his first career start was Eric Zeier in 1995.
Sanders was 11-for-20 during the game, passing for 209 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Sanders' numbers might have been better and the win might have been more convincing if receiver Jerry Jeudy didn't make a critical error following a big reception from Sanders late in the first half.
No word yet on whether Sanders will start Cleveland's next game if fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel is healthy. The Browns will next be in action in Week 13 with a home game against the San Francisco 49ers.
