Shedeur Sanders came into Week 13 riding high off of his first career win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The rookie quarterback was set to make his home debut as the starting quarterback against the San Francisco 49ers.
Sanders and the Browns not only had to battle the 49ers, but also frigid temperatures and high winds. The rookie quarterback kept to short passes, but Cleveland opted to keep the ball on the ground for the majority of the game. Sanders got to pad his stats a little toward the end of the game against a prevent defense, but all told, it was a pretty melancholy game for the rookie outside of a big touchdown to tight end Harold Fannin Jr.
The loss pushes Cleveland to 3-8 on the season. Sanders will have a big game in Week 14 as the Browns host the Tennessee Titans. Many analysts had him and Cam Ward as the top two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft class before Sanders fell to the fifth round. He will get another start and has a much better matchup to get back on track.

Shedeur Sanders updates, highlights from Browns vs. 49ers
All times ET.
3:52 p.m. -- The game is likely over. The 49ers knocked through a field goal to extend their lead to 26-8 with 4:09 left in the game. Sanders was finally able to air the ball out. With time winding down, the Browns abandoned the run, and the prevent defense allowed Sanders to pick up short gains down the field. Sanders did have an incompletion and took his third sack of the game to bring up the two-minute warning.
On his final play of the day, facing fourth and 26, Sanders ran the ball and then just sat down after six yards rather than taking another hit. It was his first carry of the game.
3:35 p.m. -- With 11 minutes to go in the game, Sanders gets the ball back down 23-8. He had plenty of time in the pocket, but scrambled and landed awkwardly. Sanders stayed down and backup quarterback Dillon Gabriel came in. He only missed one play. Sanders then hit David Njoku for a four-yard gain. On third and 16, Sanders threw a ball deep. It wobbled and the wind made it move all around. The ball fell to the ground.
The Browns went for it, and Sanders got sacked.
3:08 p.m. -- The next drive for Sanders ended abruptly. The QB had two incompletions that resulted in a quick punt.
2:55 p.m. -- Sanders began his next drive with an eight-yard completion. After back-to-back runs for a combined one-yard, the Browns went for it on fourth down and rookie tight end Harold Fannin took the direct snap, which he fumbled.
2:38 p.m. -- The Browns got the ball at halftime. Sanders had a four-yard pass and an incompletion before Cleveland punted.
2:11 p.m. -- The next drive for Cleveland took Sanders out of the game plan. The Browns ran the ball seven straight plays to get to the two-minute warning. After nine consecutive runs, Sanders hit a wide-open Harold Fannin Jr., who pushed his way into the endzone.

1:43 p.m. -- Sanders and the Browns took over again at the end of the first quarter. The quarterback was hit while throwing, and the ball wobbled to Isiah Bond for a gain of 16, a play that had a high risk of interception after the contact.
The drive ends with Sanders getting squashed by the first sack he took in the game, for a 13-yard loss.
1:28 p.m. -- The 49ers got on the board after a huge punt return and a short rushing touchdown for Christian McCaffrey. On the second play of the second drive, Sanders found Judkins on a screen for a gain of 13. The rookie quarterback continues to lean on screen passes, hitting Jerome Ford for a first down.
Cleveland faced fourth and one and decided to go for it. While Sanders didn't go for a Tush Push, he handed the ball off and the running back was stuffed in the backfield for a turnover on downs.
1:13 p.m. -- Sanders completed his first pass to Jerry Jeudy for seven yards. He then hit fellow rookie Quinshon Judkins for a gain of five. On third down, Sanders tried to go deep, but ended up overthrowing Jeudy.
