Shedeur Sanders' game-tying drive attempt comes up short for Browns vs. Ravens in NFL debut image

Call it a drive of destiny.

Shedeur Sanders didn't expect to make his NFL debut on Sunday, but when Dillon Gabriel exited with a concussion, Sanders was out there for the Cleveland Browns trying to upset the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens took the lead with less than three minutes to play on Mark Andrews' first career touchdown run, going up seven points.

Sanders got the ball with about two and a half minutes, down by that touchdown.

This would be his chance to lead the first scoring drive of his NFL career, one that would be pretty consequential.

On the first play of the drive, Sanders found Harold Fannin Jr. Down the middle for a big gain to start things off. It was the best throw he had made on the night.

Shedeur made a good throw on the next play, but Jerry Jeudy couldn't quite hold on, and on the following play, Sanders tried to hit Fannin under pressure and the rookie tight end couldn't quite snag it, either.

On third-and-10, Sanders found Jeudy for a weaving catch to just get past the first-down marker and keep hope alive.

Sanders ran for five yards on the first down play that followed as the clock ticked inside 90 seconds.

The Ravens blitzed on the next snap, and Sanders spun out to his left, but he overthrew Isaiah Bond in the end zone.

On third down, a throw was nearly caught in the end zone by Gage Larvadain. That set up fourth-and-5. The Browns used a timeout before fourth down, and then the Ravens used a timeout, too.

Sanders had his fourth-down pass knocked down, and that was that.

Destiny wasn't on his side.
