Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns were able to come away with an impressive win against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 on Sunday afternoon.
The Raiders have been one of the worst teams in the NFL, now sitting at 2-9, but the Browns haven't been much better at 3-8. In Sanders' first start of his career, he played rather well, throwing for 209 yards and one touchdown.
He only attempted 20 passes and completed 11 of them, but with more opportunities, he looks like he could be the answer in Cleveland long term.
For the Raiders, however, this was as deflating a loss as the team has had all year.
The offense struggled once again, which led to Chip Kelly being fired on Sunday night, and it sounds like some in the organization are starting to be done with how the team has played in recent months.
That includes star edge rusher Maxx Crosby, who said they’re not playing for the playoffs, which is always unfortunate, but that the team just has to keep showing up every day.
“At this point, you’re not playing for the playoffs, which is unfortunate, but you just have to keep showing up every day, stay positive, and keep working,” Crosby told reporters after the loss. “You work all year to have 17 opportunities, and that is all you can do; you can cry and moan, but it is what it is.
“You play for the love of the game, and we’re in the NFL. Nothing is guaranteed, and tomorrow is not guaranteed for anybody. You should keep showing up and keep working.”
That's about as deflating of a comment as a player can make at this level, but Crosby is right.
The Raiders' season is as good as over, but that doesn't mean he can't show up and not be a professional day in and day out.
