Quinshon Judkins avoids knee surgery after scary injury vs Bills image

It was announced on Monday that the Cleveland Browns' rookie running back, Quinshon Judkins, underwent successful surgery to repair a broken fibula and dislocated right ankle he suffered during Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The injury took place late in the second quarter, with under two minutes left in the half, when Judkins was tackled low by Bills' linebacker Matt Milano for a negative gain.

What started as a celebration for a good play by Milano quickly became agony for the running back as he lay on his back after the field and awaited medical attention.

Judkins was later carted off the field and it was believed to be a potential MCL or ACL tear, but it turns out neither was and the star running back from Ohio State avoided knee damage entirely.

Browns' head coach, Kevin Stefanski, showed his support for the Judkins, calling him a "great teammate, runs hard, cares about the game, cares about the right thing, So, I'm disappointed for him. He's disappointed, but he's not somebody that I worry about."

Although the Browns would have preferred the injury not to have happened at all, this is the best-case scenario for both parties and should be a sigh of relief for the back's chances of returning next season, as his recovery timeline has been set at 4-5 months.

Before Judkins' injury, he was having a great rookie campaign with the chance at a potential 1,000-yard rushing season, but he will finish with 827 yards on over 200 carries and seven touchdowns through 14 games played.
