After last week's loss to the Chicago Bears, it was known that Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was very close to making history as he was on the brink of recording the most sacks in a single season, as it is held by Steelers ' T.J. Watt and Hall of Famer Michael Strahan at 22.5.
Garrett entered Sunday with 21 sacks, heading into the Browns' matchup with the Buffalo Bills, excited about the opportunity to reach the milestone in front of the team's home crowd, but also emphasized that getting a win was the primary focus.
Neither would happen for Garrett, as he is now one sack away from tying the record and 1.5 to eclipse it after only recording a 0.5 sack in the loss to Buffalo.
There were many times when Garrett came close to becoming the MVP quarterback, Josh Allen, but it was easy to tell the Bills were doing everything in their power to ensure they wouldn't be the team on which Garrett broke the record.
Aside from the attention on the sack record, the game was competitive, with the Bills edging out a win by three points after icing the game with a first down under a minute left, after the Browns burned all their timeouts.
The good news for Garrett is that he will have two more chances to break the record against divisional opponents: the Pittsburgh Steelers in the last home game of the season and the Cincinnati Bengals, whose offensive line has not been the strongest.
