Legendary NFL head coach believes Shedeur Sanders will be too great to ignore in preseason image

Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns have been the most polarizing topics of the NFL offseason. Ever since Sanders' unprecedented slide in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Browns, everyone has wondered when his first snaps will come, and if he will beat out all the other new Browns quarterbacks through the spring and summer to earn the starting job.

While he is facing an uphill battle, as the majority of reps in OTAs and mini-camp went to Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel, one former NFL head coach believes Sanders will be too good to deny in preseason. Former Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets head coach Herm Edwards says Sanders will beat out Pickett, Gabriel, and Flacco with how he plays during exhibition games.

"I think when the preseason starts, he's going to find a way to beat those guys out," Edwards said.

The Browns will open preseason play August 8th in Carolina against the Panthers. Their second game is August 16th in Philadelphia against the Eagles before they close out with a home game against the Los Angeles Rams.
