The Cleveland Browns entered the NFL trade deadline at a 2-6 record and were poised as clear sellers. Some rumors had the Browns as potential buyers, which was seen in their Tyson Campbell trade.

But the expectation for Cleveland was a sell-off. While x happened, there was one move that wouldn't have been too surprising if Andrew Berry had pulled it off or not.

A potential Shedeur Sanders trade, amid the constant attention, and a commitment to Dillon Gabriel as the starter, couldn't be ruled out completely. As the deadline passed, one question worth asking is "Did the Browns trade Shedeur Sanders?"

Did the Browns trade Shedeur Sanders?

The Browns did not trade Sanders at the trade deadline. The rookie fifth-round quarterback from Colorado, and son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, wound up staying in Cleveland.

While he's yet to play a snap in a regular-season NFL game, the Browns' rookie quarterback has drawn a lot of attention since being selected after a huge 2025 NFL Draft fall.

In the preseason for the Browns, Sanders completed 17 of 29 passes for a 58.6 completion percentage for 152 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He was sacked seven times for 47 yards lost, and added 19 rushing yards on four attempts.

Joe Flacco earned the starting job to begin the year, and Gabriel was named the starter in Week 5 after the Browns moved on from Flacco. Gabriel has won one game since the switch and has 702 passing yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions in his NFL career so far.

With no immediate quarterback switch coming, a Sanders trade couldn't be completely ruled out. However, as expected, the Browns are keeping Sanders through the 2025 NFL trade deadline.

Sanders might get a chance to start later this season, but in Week 10 against the New York Jets, Gabriel remains the starter for Cleveland. The fifth-round quarterback is staying in Cleveland and will remain the backup to Gabriel for now.
