The Cleveland Browns may have stumbled into a win in Week 17, but that doesn't mean fans are happy. In fact, it's quite the opposite.
The Browns' win over the Pittsburgh Steelers moved the team to 4-12 on the season, with one game to play. The offense has been dreadful, and neither Dillon Gabriel or Shedeur Sanders have impressed all that much at quarterback.
Kevin Stefanski is a head coach that has built up some equity. After all, Stefanski has two Coach of the Year Awards and broke the team's playoff drought. However, after two consecutive seasons of missing the playoffs, it seems like his goodwill is running out.
Tony Rizzo is a legendary voice on Cleveland radio. Rizzo has largely defended Stefanski over the years, but he's apparently seen enough. On Monday, the longtime radio host revealed that he is finally ready to move on from the head coach.
"Kevin Stefanski has got to go," Rizzo said. "I appreciate the fight in the team, and I appreciate what he has done here, and I don't want to minimize what he has done here. But I still think he's got to go."
Stefanski went 11-5 in his first season as the head coach, and even won a playoff game that year. The next two seasons after that were mediocre, but the team reached the postseason again in 2023.
The team only won three games in 2024, though, and only have four wins with one game to play in 2025. A 7-26 over your last 33 games just isn't going to be good enough for most people.
“I only have to look around the league at the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints, and Jacksonville Jaguars. If you make the right coaching change, you can find gold in this league,” Rizzo continued.
This will definitely be an important offseason for the Browns. In addition to figuring out the head coach, the team also must decide on a quarterback plan going forward. One positive is that the team is slated to have two first-round picks in the 2026 draft.
Will the Browns decide to keep Stefanski for one more season? The coach would likely be in high demand if he was let go, but it seems like all progress has stalled in Cleveland.
