A Christmas wish list for Cleveland Browns fans

It's Christmas, and once again Cleveland Browns fans have had to stare at a lump of coal this season. At 3-12 it's another "maybe next year" mindset.

Let's take a different approach Dawg Pound. How about we make a wish list to send to Santa on things the fanbase would love to get wrapped up and delivered for 2026?

Browns Fans Wish List

1. A new head coach and general manager

A fresh start on the sidelines and in the front office are desperately needed. The Kevin Stefanski / Andrew Berry era has run its course after six seasons. The departure of the unsuccessful chief strategy officer Paul DePodesta, who brought these two together, is even more of a reason to go in a different direction.

Despite two NFL Coach of the Year awards, Stefanski's offense continues to rank amongst the lowest points-per-game totals for a second straight year. Penalties, lack of discipline, and player accountability have not improved over his tenure.

Andrew Berry's blind spots for drafting offensive linemen, wide receivers, and quarterback evaluation are shockingly bad. Yes, this year's rookie crop shows a lot of positives, but can we really trust this regime to select and develop a franchise QB?

Santa, we need to get rid of the heavy analytics focus, and bring in sound football minded people to turn this organization around.

2. Upgrades across the offensive line

A new coach and scheme will only be effective if the men up front aren't turnstiles. Injuries and poor drafting have led to a total collapse of the once proud offensive line.

We'll have to be a bit greedy with this wish as the Browns could need as many as four new starters across the O-Line.

  • Stalwart left guard Joel Bitonio may retire.
  • Center Ethan Pocic's devastating injury and pending free agency, makes third-year player Luke Wypler's development over the last couple of games even more important.
  • Injury riddled right tackle Jack Conklin is as good as gone, and his heir apparent Dawand Jones also can't stay healthy.
  • Right guard Wyatt Teller is in the proverbial coach's dog house, and is expected to be too expensive to re-sign in free agency.
  • Finally, left tackle has become a revolving door, currently held down by the average Cam Robinson.

3. More talented play-making wide receivers

Even if (insert quarterback name here) was better protected behind this leaky offensive line, would any of the current wide receivers be able to consistently catch the ball?

De facto No.1 Jerry Jeudy is tied for the league lead in dropped passes (10), and has not surpassed three receptions in a game since Week 10. Big bodied Cedric Tillman always seems to be banged up, while speedy rookie Isaiah Bond is just now showing some downfield flashes.

When your offensive leader in catches, yards, and touchdowns is a first-year tight end (Harold Fannin Jr.), then upgrading the wide receiver position needs to be a priority. Adding a legitimate WR1 in the draft should be a top focus for what will hopefully be a new front office.

Here’s to 2026 - where the only thing we want “iced” is a victory, not our playoff hopes by October!
