The Cleveland Browns and their quarterback controversy have been one of the most-discussed stories around the NFL.
The Browns traded for former Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick Kenny Pickett in March, trading Dorian Thompson-Robinson as part of the deal. They also brought back fan-favorite Joe Flacco and drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in a surprising sequence of decisions. Could the Browns bring in another signal-caller, though?
Former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance put his talents on display in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, going 13-of-20 and throwing two touchdown passes in a blowout Chargers win. And while the caveat of the game featuring no starters for the Lions is well-taken, it should also be pointed out that Lance is more talented than any quarterback currently on the Browns' roster. He also brings something the other four don't - mobility. Pickett tried scrambling in practice and hurt his hamstring, Flacco is 40 and as mobile as a statue, and neither Gabriel nor Sanders are very mobile.
Acquiring Lance wouldn't take much, as he is a backup quarterback with limited experience, and the ceiling for Lance is far higher than any of the current Browns quarterbacks.
