There are plenty of people who want Shedeur Sanders to fail.
The Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback acknowledged as much in his first weekend in the orange practice jersey at rookie minicamp.
Sanders spoke about how being the son of the legendary Deion Sanders has put a sort of target on his back. It can't be easy to avoid all that noise, and it's clear from Sanders' opening comments that of course he's heard it.
But the most striking thing, especially for the haters, about Sanders' first three days on a football field in Browns colors was this: He clearly, very clearly, belongs.
This isn't to say he's going to be a superstar NFL quarterback. This isn't even to say he's the best quarterback on the Browns' crowded QB depth chart.
Those are things that will still be decided later, and over time.
But one might think, based on Sanders' drastic NFL Draft free fall to the fifth round and the No. 144 pick, that the former Colorado star simply was going to fail right from the outset.
That's simply not the case.

Sanders, by pretty much all accounts and all the social media videos out there, was on time, on target and sharp throughout the rookie minicamp weekend.
He's always been a stellar passer, regardless of what pundits want to make you believe. You don't complete 74 percent of your passes in your final college season in any offensive system without being a great thrower of the football.
Then there were the off-field concerns about Sanders, but for one weekend at least, it seems those may have been overblown.
He said all the right things in his opening opportunity to speak with local media, showing gratitude, poise and grace.
His father hasn't caused any problems with any peanut-gallery comments, only choosing to hype up some of his son's highlights with a supportive social media post.
Shedeur capped the weekend by sharing a heartfelt picture of his fellow rookie minicampers with a kind message, showing a small bit of the leadership traits a modern QB needs.
It all felt rather normal.
Yes, this is the most-hyped fifth-round pick ever. He'll be under intense scrutiny no matter how his NFL career goes.
But for those hoping for Sanders' downfall, let's be honest: It looks like you'll be waiting a long while.
