Shedeur Sanders is going to the Pro Bowl.

No, your eyes didn't let you down. The Cleveland Browns' rookie quarterback is going to be a Pro Bowler, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

He's taking the place of Patriots QB Drake Maye, who will be playing in the Super Bowl.

And yes, you're right, it doesn't seem like Sanders would've been the first choice.

This time of year, the NFL does what it can to fill out the Pro Bowl rosters for the players who can't be there. Many guys are ready to get into their offseason.

Especially at quarterback, you can't even really fake it. You need a real QB to take the spot of one of his peers.

So in this case, Sanders gets the nod.

The NFL certainly won't mind the added attention he brings to the Pro Bowl, either.

The funniest part, though, may be this: Sanders isn't even the most illogical Pro Bowl QB replacement selection in the last five years.

That honor goes to Tyler Huntley after the 2022 season.

Huntley started four games that year for the Baltimore Ravens, going 2-2. He threw two touchdowns and three interceptions.

But when the NFL called deep down the replacement list, he answered.

Sanders started seven games this season and went 3-4. He threw seven touchdowns (although also 10 interceptions).

It's not by much, but at least Sanders played nearly half the season, rather than a quarter of it like Huntley.

That's not to say it makes sense. But it sums up the goofiness of Pro Bowl replacements, because while this choice is silly, it's not even the silliest recent call.
