Harold Fannin Jr. has cut it in half.
Specifically, his jersey number.
The Cleveland Browns' rookie has opted for new digits heading into Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
After wearing No. 88 all summer, Fannin has his official rookie number: 44.

Fannin wore No. 0 in his final college season, but before that, he had been 44.
The legendary Leroy Kelly wore 44 in his time with the Browns from 1964 to 1973.
Fannin will try to live up to that standard.
The Browns took him in the third round out of BGSU. Fannin was a monster for the Falcons in the MAC.
He caught 117 passes for 1,555 yards and 10 touchdowns in his final season at Bowling Green. Those were both records in an FBS season by a tight end.

Fannin doesn't have to be a star right away. The Browns still have top-notch tight end David Njoku.
But down the road, Fannin could be crucial for a Cleveland offense that still needs to find its quarterback of the future.
There's no guarantee Fannin sticks with No. 44 forever, but it's what he's got now. It's a sharp number, even if it's not a classic chains-moving tight end sort of uniform choice.
Fannin plans to make it his own.
