The Cleveland Browns signed Joe Flacco late last week, bringing back the fan-favorite who took them on a magic carpet ride to the No. 5 seed in the AFC in 2023. Cleveland lost in Houston to the Texans, but fans remained loyal to Flacco and were upset when Cleveland decided to let him walk in free agency, where he spent a season with the Indianapolis Colts.

The Browns also traded for former Steelers and Eagles quarterback Kenny Pickett at the beginning of the league-year in March. Speaking with Jerry Dipaola of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review,  Pickett said he plans to start for the Browns this season.

“That’s the plan, man. I’m not going there to hang out,” Pickett said. “I want to go play. I’m excited, been working hard for it, taking it a day at a time.”

Pickett adds that he's excited to work with Flacco and that he's heard nothing but good things about the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.

“I’ve heard nothing but great things about Joe,” he said. “I’ve been watching him since I was 10 years old. Total respect for Joe [and] what he’s done and I’m excited to get to work with him, too.”

The Browns have at least two quarterbacks that will compete for the starting job in 2025. Considering Flacco's success with the team in 2023, one would think he has pole position entering the spring.
