The Cleveland Browns are getting set for a matchup with the Tennessee Titans, which features a rookie quarterback head-to-head between Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward. And while the two rookies will get the lion's share of the attention, another quarterback will certainly be talked about after today.

The Browns have designated quarterback Deshaun Watson to return to practice, per Adam Schefter.

Watson suffered a torn Achilles last October in Week 7 against the Cincinnati Bengals. During recovery, it was revealed that Watson re-ruptured the tendon, which set him back in terms of getting back on the field. He had surgery in January to re-repair the injury.

The Browns notoriously acquired Watson from the Houston Texans via a trade in 2022, sending a load of picks to Houston that they used to build the collection of young talent they currently have, which has resulted in consecutive playoff berths and postseason wins in both 2023 and 2024.

The Browns gave Watson a fully guaranteed $230 million contract, only for the former Texan to become one of the worst quarterbacks in football.

Since 2022, Watson ranks 67th among 80 quarterbacks who have played at least 150 snaps in EPA per play. Since joining the Browns, Watson has thrown 19 touchdowns to 12 interceptions in 19 games.
