Browns’ Kevin Stefanski provides Deshaun Watson update after disastrous Shedeur Sanders game image

It was an ugly day on Sunday for Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, as he turned in his worst performance as a professional so far. It’s tough to say whether Sanders should or shouldn’t be the long-term answer at quarterback, but regardless, he has to improve, and everyone inside the building understands that.

With looming questions about what the Browns plan to do with Deshaun Watson, some have wondered whether he could return at some point this season.

If Watson isn’t activated within his 21-day practice window, he’ll miss the remainder of the year.

When asked about that possibility, head coach Kevin Stefanski didn’t seem overly concerned, saying that it isn’t his focus right now and that he’s pleased with Watson’s progress both on and off the field.

“Yeah, I would say not my focus,” Stefanski said, per Cleveland.com. “For right now, I’m very pleased with the progress that Deshaun’s making on the field, in the classroom. He’s doing a really good job.”

Reports last week indicated that Sanders was expected to remain the starter for the rest of the season.

It’s still unclear whether the Browns would change course, but even if Watson were to return, it wouldn’t make much sense to play him with only a few games left while the team tries to evaluate whether Sanders can be the long-term answer at quarterback.
