The Cleveland Browns' head coaching search wasn't exactly going to plan, with multiple top candidates taking their names out of consideration for the job.
But after the top-three finalists emerged, there were a few solid options. Nate Scheelhaase, Todd Monken, and Jim Schwartz were the best choices.
And according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns made their choice. Cleveland is bringing in Monken to be their new head coach.
Browns hire Todd Monken as head coach
"ESPN Sources: the Cleveland Browns are hiring former Ravens offensive coordinator Toddy Monken as their next head coach," Schefter reports.
Bringing in Monken to be the head coach is an exciting hire for the Browns. HE's a great offensive mind, and will help the struggling offense turn things around going forward.
While the process to get to this head coach hiring wasn't exactly smooth sailing, the outcome, bringing in Monken, is a good decision.
He was great with the Ravens for a few years, having an offense ranked no lower than 11th in points per game. He's a fun hire for Cleveland and should help the offense, whether it's led by Shedeur Sanders or not, improve next season.

This decision from the Browns not only gives Cleveland a new head coach with some incredible upside, but it also hurts longtime rival John Harbaugh.
The New York Giants, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, had Monken as their top option for their offensive coordinator spot.
Instead, thanks to the Browns hiring him as their head coach, Harbaugh will have to pivot to a new offensive coordinator for 2026 and beyond.
This hiring is a solid one for the Browns and will hopefully help fix the struggling offense to better match the elite defense led by Myles Garrett.
