The Cleveland Browns have a quarterback problem. There's not a single fan or analyst who is pleased with the current play of rookie Dillon Gabriel, and would much rather see Shedeur Sanders get a shot at the starting gig.
But what about Deshaun Watson? Is Cleveland's $230 million man ready to return to the field after two Achilles surgeries?
Could the veteran quarterback be the answer under center the rest of the way for the Browns?
Browns not opening 21-day practice window for Deshaun Watson
Not yet, according to Browns' insider Mary Kay Cabot, as the cleveland.com insider is reporting that the team is putting it off just a bit longer.
"Deshaun Watson continues to make excellent progress in his comeback from a re-ruptured Achilles, but the Browns aren’t opening his 21-day practice window this week, a league source tells cleveland.com," Cabot wrote.
"On Monday, Kevin Stefanski didn’t immediately dismiss it as a possibility, saying, 'I’m not sure if that’s what we’re doing.' But the Browns will wait at least until Week 12 against the Raiders to designate Watson for return from reserve/Physically Unable to Perform."
Watson, the 30-year-old veteran, has had nothing but bad luck since arriving in Cleveland, dealing with injury after injury, unable to find his footing with the team.
It appears he may have a shot late in the season to prove his value and play, especially if the Browns continue to insist on not playing Sanders.
