After firing head coach Kevin Stefanski following the end of the 2025 regular season, the Cleveland Browns are back in the search for someone to lead the team moving forward.
Stefanski was with the Browns for each of the past six seasons, winning the NFL Coach of the Year award in 2020 and 2023. He helped lead Cleveland to its first playoff appearance in 18 years and first playoff win in 23 years in his first season with the team in 2020.
Now, the Browns are moving on. The team could be looking to stay in the AFC North while searching for the next person to lead the way.
Bengals' Dan Pitcher listed as possible candidate for Browns' head coaching job
The Athletic's Zac Jackson provided a large list of possible people for the Cleveland Browns' vacant head coaching spot; one of those people happened to be Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher.
Although Bengals head coach Zac Taylor is the person who calls the offense in Cincinnati, Pitcher has had a large part in franchise quarterback Joe Burrow's success in the NFL.
Pitcher was the Bengals' quarterbacks coach from 2020 to 2023, which happened to also be during Cincinnati's Super Bowl run in 2022. He has served as the team's offensive coordinator for the past two seasons.
"With a decade at the same organization in various roles and quarterback coaching in his background, Pitcher's resume is a lot like Stefanski's was in 2020 when the Browns made him their choice," Alec Jackson wrote. "The Browns submitted a request to interview Pitcher on Wednesday."
Pitcher, along with many others throughout the league and already within Cleveland's organization, will compete for a chance at being the head coach for the Browns moving forward.
