The Cincinnati Bengals had all the momentum coming into Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
They had just closed the gap in the AFC North between themselves and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and a win yesterday would've put them half a game back from Pittsburgh in the division race.
Instead, they lost a one-point game to the then-winless Jets, and quarterback Joe Flacco, who was supposed to stabilize the ship, is now dealing with an injury.
Joe Flacco 'day-to-day' with a shoulder injury
According to head coach Zac Taylor, Flacco is dealing with a shoulder injury.
"Bengals QB Joe Flacco is day-to-day with a shoulder injury, coach Zac Taylor said. He is sore today," wrote ESPN Bengals insider Ben Baby in a post on X.
It remains to be seen if the 40-year-old quarterback will practice this week ahead of their matchup with the Chicago Bears.
Flacco has been solid since landing with Cincinnati in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.
In three starts, the former Baltimore Ravens quarterback has gone 1-2, completing 64.3% of his passes for 784 yards, seven touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
He certainly wasn't the reason they lost to the Jets yesterday; that blame can be placed squarely on the defense.
But considering how backup quarterback Jake Browning has played this year, Cincy would be in trouble if he had to start another game.
Browning is the reason they went out and got Flacco in the first place.
As the week progresses, we'll see how the Bengals handle the veteran's practice reps in anticipation of his status against the Bears.
