The Cincinnati Bengals pulled off a shocking upset over the Baltimore Ravens on Thanksgiving night, 32-14.
Joe Burrow returned for his initial start since Week 2, following a two-month recovery period from a significant foot ailment. Nevertheless, it was Cincinnati's defensive unit that emerged as the champions of the evening, compelling four turnovers on their path to securing a win.
The Ravens' situation wasn't improved by several injuries to their defensive backs during the match, which permitted Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase to dominate a weakened unit. He secured seven catches for 110 yards, and following the contest, Chase discussed competing against his former colleague Chidobe Awuzie.
Ja'Marr Chase expresses strong admiration for his former colleague Chidobe Awuzie.
"I love Chido (Awuzie), man. Me and Chido go way back. He's been working with me since my rookie year. It's always nothing but love and competitiveness when I'm going against Chido," Chase said after the game.
"We weren't going at it, he just held me on one of the plays I didn't get the flag, and I'm like 'Chido you know you held me' and he like 'how?'...that's my guy though."
Awuzie was part of the Bengals organization for three seasons, from 2021 through 2023, and was on the Cincinnati squad that reached the Super Bowl in 2021.
Evidently, the former standout from Colorado left an impression on the young Chase, who entered the league the same year Awuzie joined the team.
Following an injury to Nate Wiggins during Thursday night's contest, Awuzie was compelled to enter the game and was handed one of the team's most challenging responsibilities.
