The Dallas Cowboys could be in the market for another cornerback. The team added to the unit this offseason by trading for Kair Elam from the Buffalo Bills to pair with Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland, and also drafted Shavon Revel Jr. in the third round, but a contender can never have too many starting-caliber defensive backs.

With the draft over and the trade market dry outside of Jalen Ramsey, Blogging The Boys' Connor Livesay urges the Cowboys to sign Cincinnati Bengals free-agent cornerback Mike Hilton.

"Hilton has primarily played in the slot for most of his career in Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. Though he lacks size, he has built a reputation as a quality cover out of the slot and has a knack for taking the football away. Hilton’s veteran presence and slot experience is needed in Dallas and at this point in the offseason he should be relatively affordable," Livesay wrote.

Hilton struggled a bit in 2024, as he was a liability in coverage at times and allowed a 105.6 passer rating when targeted. The veteran is still a free agent after the draft and may be demoted to a depth role during his next stop in the NFL.

Though he didn't look great last year, the Cowboys should consider signing Hilton. The 30-year-old has started 56 games in his eight-year career and would be a solid depth piece in Matt Eberflus' defense.

Additionally, Hilton shouldn't cost much to sign. Though Spotrac has his market value at $12.3 million over three seasons, which totals $37 million, the former Steeler likely won't receive a deal worth that much, given that he's a free agent in May coming off a down year.

Dallas should look to add some talent to the secondary heading into the summer, and signing Hilton to a cheap contract to be a high-level backup and potential starter would be a savvy move from Jerry Jones.
