The Bengals are trending in the wrong direction while trying to stay relevant in the AFC North standings. After dropping back-to-back games against the New York Jets and Chicago Bears before their Week 10 bye, the team sits at third place with a record of 3-6.

Defense has been the most revealing problem for Cincinnati, giving up 25 or more points in eight straight weeks. Whether backup quarterback Joe Flacco is playing well or not, this statistic is far from the key to success.

Not just this, but the Bengals' top defensive player has been dealing with a lingering injury that looks like it will result in him not suiting up for their Week 11 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bengals insider Ben Baby announced on Wednesday that defensive end Trey Hendrickson "remains doubtful" for Week 11. Head coach Zac Taylor said that it's "unclear" if the 2024 NFL sack-leader will practice this week.

Despite already missing two games this season with the same injury to his hip, Hendrickson leads the Bengals in sacks in 2025 with four.

Following a training camp holdout this offseason, Hendrickson was able to work out a one-year, $30 million deal with the Bengals. His name was floating around in trade rumors before the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline, but he was never moved.

The Bengals are dealing with multiple other injuries to the defense this week. Cornerback Marco Wilson (hamstring) and defensive end Shemar Stewart (knee) are listed as questionable.
