The Cincinnati Bengals have released former third-round pick Jermaine Burton, head coach Zac Taylor announced on Monday.

"The Bengals are releasing WR Jermaine Burton, coach Zac Taylor announced. He was suspended for Sunday’s game," Ian Rapoport posts on X. "A final straw for Cincy, as Burton now heads to waivers."

Burton was suspended for Sunday's game against the Bills by the team and didn't travel to Buffalo for the game. As Rapoport pointed out, this was the final straw in a long list of behavioral issues that Burton has put on display since being drafted in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Alabama.

Burton's talent is evident, but the issues that were flagged coming out of college, and that caused him to fall in the draft, have caught up with him and left him without a job. He will almost certainly get picked up by a team based on that talent, but there is clearly a lot of growing needed from a maturity standpoint in order for him to get his career back on track.
