The Cincinnati Bengals are 4-9, and while they're still alive in the playoff hunt, any loss or a Pittsburgh Steelers win would end their playoff hopes.
After a crushing Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills, Joe Burrow shared some melancholic comments about his time in the NFL and where things stand. These comments were cause for concern, and had fans speculating he'd retire or demand a trade.
However, according to NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Bengals quarterback has no plans to pull an Andrew Luck and retire early in his NFL career.
Joe Burrow not expected to retire amid concerning comments
"If you read Burrow's recent comments, delivered on his 29th birthday, and thought maybe he was about to pull an Andrew Luck... Think again." Russini writes.
Luck retires early amid taking a beating behind a shaky Indianapolis Colts offensive line. Burrow, coming off a turf toe injury and getting attacked behind a shaky offensive line, was facing a lot of the same issues Luck was.
Both were banged up frequently, and for Burrow, he's not had a season or offseason without recovering from some injury.

But, despite the injuries and the recent comments at a press conference after the brutal Week 14 loss, Burrow isn't expected to retire early as Luck did.
"A person close to him laughed when I suggested he sounded down in the dumps," Russini writes. "'He's a serial killer,' that person said. 'Nothing matters to him but playing this game and winning a Super Bowl.'"
Burrows' comments were concerning, and while there might be fallout in the offseason, retirement isn't on the table. He loves football, and his early return from a turf toe injury and this report from Russini are proof that he's not considering retirement.
