Why Rome Odunze isn't playing today for Bears with shocking injury news image

Five minutes before kickoff.

Until that point, Rome Odunze was set to suit up for the Chicago Bears on Sunday in Week 15 against the Cleveland Browns. It's a huge week. The Bears want to win, and Odunze's fantasy football managers are counting on him.

And then at the last minute, everything changed.

Odunze isn't playing after all.

Why isn't Rome Odunze playing today?

Rome Odunze entered the weekend questionable, and he re-aggravated his injury pregame.

He had been announced as active at 11:30 a.m. ET. By 12:55 p.m. ET, he was ruled out.

"Bears WR Rome Odunze, who was officially active, now has been ruled out after aggravating his foot injury," ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote on X.

The news came so late. Anyone planning to start Odunze in fantasy probably ended up stuck with him in their lineup.

The Bears didn't really do anything wrong here. Odunze was healthy enough to give it a go, and then his health got worse in the hour leading up to kickoff.

It's just incredibly unfortunate timing.

The Bears can likely win without Odunze. DJ Moore and Luther Burden are talented wideouts.

But fantasy teams with Odunze may end their season on Sunday because of this turn of events.
