That throw is why the Bears drafted Caleb Williams 1st overall image

This was the Caleb Williams dream. This was why he was the No. 1 overall pick. This was why the Chicago Bears pinned the hopes of their franchise on this freakishly athletic, spontaneous, playmaking quarterback.

It was for this throw.

Chicago Bears fans will never forget this throw.

It's the longest 14-yard touchdown pass of all time, from Williams to Cole Kmet, to tie the NFC Divisional Round against the Los Angeles Rams with less than 30 seconds left and force overtime.

The longest 14-yard pass ever? Yeah, because Williams released the ball around the 40-yard line.

The pass rush of the Rams got in immediately. Williams just backed up, and backed up some more, and threw up an incredible prayer.

Kmet was waiting, a big size mismatch on defender Cobie Durant, and reeled it in.

Magic.

There are many who questioned whether Williams would truly make it as an NFL quarterback. Sure, he had the crazy plays, but was he consistent?

In his rookie season of 2024, Williams looked erratic.

But this season, Williams put together improvements across the board, and he made plays within system.

Sometimes, though, you need brilliance beyond belief. Sometimes, the system and the script don't work.

Sometimes, you need improvisational ability that only comes along once or twice in a generation.

Williams has it, and he used it, and the Bears will never forget it.

It's the moment you dream of when Williams name is called on draft night before anyone else's.

And on this frigid Sunday night in Chicago, Williams' moment arrived.
