Is D'Andre Swift playing today? Latest injury update, fantasy advice for Bears RB in Week 7 image

The Chicago Bears are in danger of not having their starting running back, D'Andre Swift, for the Week 7 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Swift was added to the injury report on Thursday with a groin issue, which seemed to indicate he had suffered the injury in practice.

However, head coach Ben Johnson later revealed that was not the case and instead the injury was from last week's contest. Swift wasn't added to the injury report to start the week because the Bears only held a walkthrough on Wednesday, which Swift took part in.

Swift finished off the week with two limited session before drawing the questionable tag. Here's what we know about his chances of playing.

Is D'Andre Swift playing today?

UPDATE: Swift is officially ACTIVE for Week 7.

END OF UPDATE

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Swift is expected to play on Sunday against New Orleans.

"Bears RB D’Andre Swift (groin) and DT Grady Jarrett (knee) are both listed as questionable and both expected to play Sunday, sources say," Rapoport wrote.

This tracks with what Swift himself said. The Bears running back revealed he would play on Sunday during the week, but it's nice to have confirmation.

"I can't wait," Swift said. "Another opportunity against a good opponent coming in. Try to stay on the track that we're on. Just another opportunity," Swift said.

Who is D'Andre Swift's handcuff?

Just in case, you should know that rookie Kyle Monangai is the Bears' RB2 and would be the starter if Swift unexpectedly sits.

Monangai has operated as the clear No. 2 back for Chicago all season long, taking 22 carries to Roschon Johnson's one. Monangai would be a starting option in all fantasy football formats if Swift sits, if for no other reason than volume.

D'Andre Swift start or sit advice

Swift ranks as RB18 overall through six games, which makes him a borderline RB2 play each and every week, regardless of matchup.

The Saints have given up the 12th-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs this season, but that isn't enough to scare us off Swift, especially after he had his best game of the season in Week 6.
