The Chicago Bears have historically been a place where QBs go to fail. They've never had a QB throw for over 4,000 yards in a season, and arguably the greatest player they've had at QB has been Jay Cutler, who most wouldn't quite consider a Hall of Fame-type player.
When the Bears took Williams first overall in 2024, many speculated that, despite his talent, Chicago's QB fate would come for him all the same.
Year one wasn't spectacular for Williams, but in year two, with an elite head coach and playcaller brought in, paired with a revamped offensive line, he's starting to live up to the hype of looking like an elite young QB.

In year two, Caleb Williams has led the Chicago Bears to an 11-6 record, an NFC North division title, and has broken multiple records this season.
Today, against the Detroit Lions, however, Caleb Williams broke one of the most impressive in franchise history, accomplishing a feat no other QB that's come through Chicago has.
Caleb Williams breaks single-season franchise record for passing yards
The Bears were the only team in NFL history without a 4,000-yard passer in franchise history. QBs like Jay Cutler and Erik Kramer came within 200 yards each of passing that mark, but ultimately fell short.
Today, while the 4,000-yard mark eluded him as well, Caleb Williams took yet another step towards becoming the greatest QB in Bears history by breaking the single-season record for passing yards.
Caleb Williams is now the single-season passing yardage leader in Bears history.

So far this season, Caleb Williams has made the Bears the most clutch team in NFL history, has become the most efficient QB through his first 1,000 passing attempts, and is now the single-season record holder in franchise history with 3,942 yards.
All of this in just his second season. Caleb 'Iceman' Williams is living up to the hype.
Next for the young QB is to win his first playoff game against the Green Bay Packers next weekend. A playoff win against Green Bay in Chicago might just earn him a statue.
