The Chicago Bears made it their mission to rebuild the offensive line around Caleb Williams this offseason, acquiring Jonah Jackson and Joe Thuney from the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs, respectively.

But the Bears don't have any contingency plans in place, and one injury could derail the entirety of the offense. Right tackle Darnell Wright has already missed a game this season, and left tackle Braxton Jones is on injured reserve.

Is there an offensive lineman out there on the trade market they could acquire as insurance, or even a player they could develop for the future?

Bears urged to trade for Giants OL Evan Neal

Brag Gagnon of Bleacher Report thinks so and urged the Bears to trade for New York Giants offensive lineman Evan Neal.

"Braxton Jones is on injured reserve, while Theo Benedet has had issues at left tackle. Neal at least brings some experience and versatility, and the Bears can hope he gets a jolt in a new location, as the Giants have little reason to keep him around at this point," wrote Gagnon.

"It's insurance for a late-round pick at the very least."

Neal was the Giants' seventh overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and it's safe to say he's been a bust based on where he was selected.

The Alabama product has not appeared in a single game so far in 2025 and has only started 27 of 59 possible games throughout his tenure in New York.

It's safe to say he could use a change of scenery, and the Giants would likely be willing to move Neal for just about anything.

The Bears could buy low on a former top-10 draft pick and hope their coaching staff and veterans on the offensive line could help develop Neal into a serviceable swing tackle.
