Bears' Rome Odunze reveals encouraging status update for Packers Wild Card game image

The Chicago Bears are playing in their first playoff game in a few years, and with Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams turning this franchise around, a matchup against the Green Bay Packers won't be easy by any means.

Even though Micah Parsons is out, the Packers are still a tough opponent, and the Bears will need all fo the help they can get. Fortunately, the Bears got some encouraging news on one of their injured players.

Rome Odunze was asked by reporters before the playoff game against the Packers about his status for Saturday night. Jason Lieser of The Chicago Sun-Times shared Odunze's comments, which are a positive sign that the wide receiver will play this weekend.

"Bears WR Rome Odunze (foot) gives no guarantee," Lieser writes, "but says he is 'planning' to play Saturday vs. Packers."

Odunze has missed a significant amount of time lately, as he's played just 12 games this season, with the final five weeks of the year being the weeks he's sat out.

A foot injury has kept him out for some time. After missing the first Packers matchup in Week 14 and a pre-game setback against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15, he's missed the final few weeks of the regular season.

After splitting the series in the regular season, the Bears are in a favorable spot in the playoffs. Not only are they the home team and won't have to face Parsons on the Packers' defense, but they might finally get Odunze back.

This season, in the 12 weeks he played in before injury, Odunze recorded 44 receptions on 90 targets for 661 yards and six touchdowns. It was a much better start to the year, but his injury cut his regular season short.

Fortunately, as Odunze revealed, he plans to be back for the Bears in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, as the 2-seed Bears host the Packers in Chicago on Saturday night.
