Bears' Rome Odunze gets key projection in WR depth chart battle with DJ Moore image

The Chicago Bears have a whole new offense, and it's being led by head coach Ben Johnson, over from the Detroit Lions.

That has created a new buzz around the Bears. Caleb Williams is entering his second year as Chicago's quarterback, and with a talented receiving corps around him, a lot of good can happen here.

One of the biggest curiosities surrounds Rome Odunze. The second-year wideout from the University of Washington was solid as a rookie.

Some wonder whether he can leapfrog right past WR1 DJ Moore in year two.

ESPN's Matt Bowen threw this thought into some new analysis on Wednesday: "Rome Odunze? Don't be surprised if he ends up passing DJ Moore as the top target for Williams."

Odunze was the No. 9 overall pick in 2024 after being a dominant target for Michael Penix Jr. with the Huskies.

He made it out on the field for all 17 games and was targeted 101 times. He caught just 54 of those passes for 734 yards and three touchdowns.

The Bears did rely on Keenan Allen a decent amount last season, and he's gone now, back to the Chargers.

Chicago drafted Luther Burden in the second round, so there are still three strong WRs here.

The expectation is that Johnson will create a whole system that is more efficient and smoother, and that has to be a help to a guy as talented as Odunze.

Odunze is still just 23 years old, and he's an immense talent. It could be a big season ahead.
