Since signing his $110 million contract, things have not gone well for Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore.
After a career year in 2023, Moore had a down season in 2024, tallying just 966 yards in 17 games. In 2025, Moore is on pace for even less, with the veteran wideout posting 502 yards in 12 contests.
One problem is the Bears have a crowded pass-catcher situation, but it's also pretty clear Moore doesn't have great chemistry with quarterback Caleb Williams, as his downfall coincides with the young signal-caller coming aboard.
With Moore's lackluster production, it's going to be hard for the Bears to convince themselves they should keep paying him, which could lead to a trade.
And that's exactly what Logan Ulrich of NFL Trade Rumors believes. He predicts Moore will hit the trade block in 2026, which means it's possible he gets moved.
Moore turns 29 in April, so between that and the cash he’s due, he probably wouldn’t fetch the Bears a first-round pick. Something between a third-round pick or a fifth-round pick would be more realistic. Former WR Amari Cooper has been dealt for both and he’s a good parallel for Moore. The fifth-rounder was when the Cowboys essentially dumped his salary, the third-rounder was when the Browns took advantage of a receiver-needy team looking for a proven option. How well the Bears manage the situation will dictate which end of the spectrum a potential Moore trade falls.
The Bears are in a good enough position where they could trade Moore and be just fine at the wide receiver position.
After all, they'd still have Rome Odunze to serve as their No. 1, and rookie Luther Burden, who has shown progress as the season has gone along, should be ready to take over the No. 2 role in 2026.
Chicago has tight end Colston Loveland, who is showing a ton of promise lately, and fellow tight end Cole Kmet is under contract through 2027, but Chicago may look to deal him, also, with Loveland emerging.
With Loveland, Odunze and Burden, the Bears will have a strong foundation if they decide to trade Moore. All that will be left is to add depth, which shouldn't be difficult to do.
