Bears' Caleb Williams did something vs. Bills he never did as a rookie image

Caleb Williams certainly showed flashes of his potential as a rookie for the Chicago Bears after being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

They're hoping for more in year two, though, especially under wizard offensive head coach Ben Johnson, who has come over from his previous post as offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions.

Williams had his most promising moments of the offseason on Sunday night in the Bears' second preseason game, in which they took on the Buffalo Bills.

The former USC star went 6-for-10 for 107 yards and a touchdown across two series.

Williams delivered a 36-yard touchdown to Olamide Zaccheaus to highlight his night.

He also did something he had never done as a rookie: lead an opening drive touchdown.

According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, the Bears didn't score a first-drive TD in the entirety of the 2024 season.

Clearly, they'd like to do that in the regular season, not just the preseason. But it's a strong start.

There have been moments in training camp where Williams has created some doubts. One viral clip in particular showed some shocking inaccuracy and some follow-up frustration from the young QB.

But he's immensely talented, with an incredible arm and impressive mobility. Williams still has so much room to grow and can still reach a gigantic ceiling.

This season, in a new offense, will go a long way toward determining just how good Williams ends up in the NFL.

And if Sunday night's game is any indication, Williams is moving in the right direction.
