Bears defense has brutal message for Shedeur Sanders: “Stay in a rookie’s place" image

What more can you call Chicago's game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday other than a whooping?

From the jump, the offense drove up and down the field with impunity. Caleb Williams broke records, D'Andre Swift rushed for multiple touchdowns, and the rookies Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland looked very comfortable in larger roles.

While the offense was the definition of dominant, it was the defense that was truly punishing Cleveland for most of the day.

Leading up to the matchup with Chicago, Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders frankly looked great. In three starts, he had thrown for 722 yards, five TDs, and only 2 INTs.

On Sunday, the Chicago defense was sure to not only put that to bed, but also to give him his 'welcome to the NFL moment'.

Bears' defense "taught a rookie to stay in a rookie's place"

The Chicago Bears' defense made Shedeur Sanders' life a living hell on Sunday. They sacked the rookie QB five times, hit him 15 times, and forced a whopping three INTs.

It was as much of a 'welcome to the NFL moment' as I've ever seen.

After the game, the vocal leader of the defense, CJ Gardner-Johnson, met with the media and set the record straight on the rookie QB. He even mocked Sanders in the process.

Garnder Johnson looked down at a pretend watch (to mock Sanders' patented celebration) and had this to say:

It's about time he ran into some problems. He's a great young player. They're a great young group that's playing hard, physical. He's going against a lot of vets that have something to play for. Sometimes you gotta teach a rookie how to stay in a rookie's place.

And put him in his place, they did.

This performance is especially impressive as it seems that the Bears' defense is ramping up just in time for the playoffs. And thanks to some good news from the team today, they could be getting even scarier as soon as this week.
