The Chicago Bears trailed 21-6 in the fourth quarter to the Green Bay Packers.

That's right about the time that news emerged that the Chicago Cubs were signing star third baseman Alex Bregman to a five-year contract for $175 million.

And then the Bears came all the way back and beat the Packers, 31-27.

Coincidence? Maybe.

But a night that Chicago sports fans won't soon forget? Definitely.

The Bears were the 2-seed, taking on the 7-seed Packers. They weren't supposed to lose.

And then the first half was all Green Bay, a 21-3 halftime edge.

The Bears kicked a lone field goal in the third quarter to make it 21-6 going to the fourth.

And then they outscored Green Bay 25-6 in the final frame.

Cairo Santos drilled a 51-yard field goal.

D'Andre Swift scored from six yards out.

Olamide Zaccheaus caught an 8-yard TD from Caleb Williams, followed by a 2-point pass to Colston Loveland.

And then for the second time in a month, Williams hit DJ Moore for a game-winning TD pass, this one from 25 yards out with 1:43 to play.

All the while, Bears fans were likely seeing notifications on their phone about Bregman.

The former Astros and Red Sox star seemed pretty likely to stay in the American League. But then the Cubs outbid everyone.

So Bregman, late Saturday night, learned he's a Chicagoan. And if he was interested, he learned his new city's NFL team has a flare for the dramatic.
