The Carolina Panthers marched into Levi Stadium with hopes of knocking off the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football. The defense certainly tried with three turnovers and two interceptions by Jaycee Horn himself. Carolina certainly tried, and they shouldn’t hang their heads low because if Bryce Young could’ve been better, they may have been on the right side of the 20-9 final.
The battle that no one ever saw coming was between the 49ers’ Jauan Jennings and Panthers safety Tre’von Moehrig. Maybe if referees paid more attention, they would’ve been able to stop this from pouring over into post-game festivities.
These two had been battling all game, and you could see that it was starting to become hostile between the two towards the end of the game. Something that even a few refs and teammates should’ve been able to see coming.
Both parties should be at fault here, especially after Jennings hit Moehrig in the face. This isn’t a Ja’Marr Chase and Jalen Ramsey kind of spat, but it could’ve still been.
Last time, I believe that Ramon Foster and company were a little soft on Chase, only giving him a one-game suspension.
I believe he should’ve gotten more when he lied about it.
The NFL could make an example of these two, especially Moehrig, for landing what many would call a cheap shot, so this could become more than just fines.
Suppose they do choose to go down this path. This may make other players think twice before acting out in an unsportsmanlike way.
