What Carolina fans have been calling the worst way to get suspended. The NFL announced its suspension of Panthers safety Tre’von Moehrig.
This came as a shock for many fans, as many had seen Jauan Jennings of the 49ers approach Moehrig after the game and proceeded to start a fight that was quickly snuffed out, and the two sides pulled each other’s players away.
It was only later that it was brought up that Tre’von hit Jennings in the nethers. But it still brings up a point.
Jennings did hit Moehrig after the game was concluded, which usually winds up as a suspension if they’re following their own rules. This had some wondering if both would be suspended.
The NFL had a chance to make an example of both these guys, especially in the wake of Ja’Marr Chase’s spitting on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Jalen Rams ey.
Moehrig will appeal, per Adam Shefter, which will be seen out by either Derrick Brooks, Ramon Foster, or Jordy Nelson. Then will probably be denied, and he’ll serve out his one-game suspension and then issue an apology just like Chase did.
Although the Panthers did just sign linebacker, safety combo Isaiah Simmons, which could mean that this could be such a punishable offense that he loses his job.
But also, the Panthers need linebacker help since Trevin Wallace and Christian Rozeboom are both hurt, and this will surely bolster a young group.
