Will Tyler Bass play this season? Latest injury update on Buffalo Bills kicker image

The Buffalo Bills haven't had the services of kicker Tyler Bass all season long.

Bass suffered an injury during the offseason, got healthy, but then suffered a hip/groin injury that landed him on injured reserve prior to Week 1.

Bass has been eligible to return for months now, but that has not happened and instead Bass remains on the injured reserve list through Week 14.

Here's what we know about his rest-of-season status.

Will Tyler Bass play this season?

No, Bass will not play in 2025.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott said this past week that Bass had surgery on his injury and he will miss the rest of the season.

“He was dealing with it, it wasn’t going away and we thought it was going away, then it wasn’t going away as he tried to get himself back ready,” McDermott said of Bass. “And so the decision against surgery was almost made up for him. So that’s the decision and that’s what we went with.”

With Bass' season over, the Bills will continue to rely on 41-year-old kicker Matt Prater, who has provided some stability amid Bass' absence.

Prater has drilled 17-of-19 field goals and 34-of-37 extra points. He has struggled a bit with extra points of late, though, with Prater missing two in the last two games.

The Bills will hope that doesn't continue, as they no longer have Bass as a fallback option.
