The Buffalo Bills have pulled quarterback Josh Allen from the Week 18 game against the New York Jets.

The Bills pulled Allen in the first quarter after just one offensive snap. He will be replaced by backup Mitchell Trubisky for the rest of the contest.

Here's why the Bills made that move.

Why Bills pulled Josh Allen vs. Jets

While the Bills have an opportunity to move up one spot in the wild-card standings, they decided protecting Allen was more important, which is the right decision.

And that's especially true when you consider that Allen has been dealing with a foot injury for a few weeks now.

So, why did the Bills give Allen the one snap?

One reason is Allen had a consecutive starts streak to extend.

The Bills signal-caller also likely wanted to get in one last play in what could be his final game at the old Highmark Stadium.

The Bills will be moving into a new building in 2026 and if the team finishes in the No. 7 seed, they won't have an opportunity for a home playoff game.

The Bills entered this week in the No. 7 spot in the wild-card standings and can only move up to No. 6 with a win combined with a Los Angeles Chargers loss.

If the Bills lose to the Jets, the result of the Chargers' game won't matter and the Bills will land in the final wild-card position.

The Houston Texans wrapped up the No. 5 seed with a win earlier on Sunday, so that spot is no longer available.
