The Buffalo Bills have moved on from Sean McDermott.

And the name just looming in the background is Joe Brady.

Brady is the Bills' offensive coordinator. Could he be the next head coach?

It's not all that far-fetched. Brady has interviewed for two head-coaching jobs in this cycle, the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins.

He's been highly regarded as an offensive mind since his days working at LSU with Joe Burrow.

There are aspects to Brady's play-calling that some Bills fans don't love, but he called a great game Saturday in the loss to the Broncos that was undone by the offense's turnovers.

It's also not clear how Brady is viewed as a leader.

It hasn't always worked out for teams to just bring in the next hot-shot offensive whiz to be a head coach. Sometimes, that guy is more suited to continue as an OC.

Brady's candidacy could also come down to how Josh Allen feels about him. This Bills coaching move is about the franchise QB more than anything else, and so they wouldn't want to move Brady into a bigger role unless Allen wanted him there.

The Bills may have to act quickly or risk losing Brady elsewhere. If McDermott took another job, would Brady consider following him? Or will one of those teams decide Brady is who they want to hire as head coach?

Buffalo is behind the 8-ball having entered into this process after two weeks of the playoffs. Brady, for better or worse, has to be in the picture.
