The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for their first preseason game this Saturday against the New York Giants, but will continue to practice without star running back James Cook.
Cook began his hold-in earlier this week, saying it was about "business." And while many fans are over the entire saga, one NFL insider provides some optimism to the situation.
Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Bills and Cook don't appear to be far apart in terms of a deal, and this hold-in is more or less being used to get the deal finalized.
"I don't get the sense the gap in negotiations between James Cook and the Bills is as large as other notable hold-ins around the league," Russini posted on X. "Cook's decision to sit out Bills practices is designed to get this deal across the finish line. We'll see if the two sides can come to an agreement."
Should this be the case, it sounds as if a long-term deal could be announced soon for Cook and the Bills.
