Keon Coleman trade status takes another twist with Bills' Joe Brady hiring image

In a lot of ways, Keon Coleman has felt like a goner.

The Buffalo Bills struggled to find ways to use the second-round WR in his first two seasons, and then owner Terry Pegula blamed the coaching staff for Coleman's draft selection to protect newly named president of football operations Brandon Beane, the former GM.

Except, well, the coaching staff isn't all gone.

Head coach Sean McDermott was fired, yes.

But the guy replacing him? Offensive coordinator Joe Brady, promoted to the big gig.

And of note here: Brady was already the OC when Coleman was drafted. Surely, he was a fan of the lanky, athletic wide receiver at the time.

Brady has still used Coleman at times in his play calling, finding ways here and there even in this messy 2025 season for Coleman for him to make big plays down the field occasionally.

They also were entirely in sync in that epic Week 1 comeback to beat the Baltimore Ravens, when Coleman had a massive fourth quarter.

Repairing the relationship with Coleman may still take time, although reports have indicated he's just got his head down and is working hard.

It's just all quite ironic. The coaching staff gets thrown under the bus for the pick, but then they keep the most high-ranking member of the offensive portion of the coaching staff around in a bigger role.

That may just be enough to prevent Coleman from going anywhere.
