The Buffalo Bills have a major concern with star edge rusher Joey Bosa.
Bosa exited the Week 13 contest early with what was later diagnosed as a hamstring injury. On Monday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott would only say "we'll see where that goes" when it comes to Bosa's Week 14 status.
But it appears we have to worry about more than just Week 14.
According to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, Bosa is week to week and the team is hoping he will only miss one or two games, but that isn't guaranteed and Wolfe floated a possible four to five week timeline.
"Joey Bosa is week-to week with hamstring injury. They are hoping it’s 1-2 weeks instead of 4-5 weeks. But [to be determined] right now," Wolfe reported.
Wolfe added that it "looks like Bills will be without Joey Bosa on Sunday vs. Bengals, and possibly longer."
The Bills only have five games left this season, so it's now possible Bosa won't be back until the playoffs, if the Bills get there.
This is the last thing the Bills could afford, as their margin for error when it comes to making the postseason is small.
Buffalo sits in the final wild-card spot in the conference entering Week 14 and their deficit in the AFC East behind the New England Patriots is nearly insurmountable with just five games left to play.
Buffalo will need the Patriots to completely collapse, but New England is showing zero signs of that being a possibility at this point. That means the wild card is the Bills' best bet to make the postseason.
Bosa has been having a strong season for the Bills, tallying five sacks and 41 pressures in 12 games, with the latter mark ranking 19th among edge rushers.
The biggest concern for Bosa going into the season was his ability to stay healthy after a lengthy injury history. He managed to do that for the first 12 games, but clearly his run of good injury luck is going to end.
