The Buffalo Bills signaled the end of their commitment to cornerback Kaiir Elam during the offseason, and his present team is now following suit.
In March, the Bills sent Elam and a 2025 sixth-round selection to the Dallas Cowboys, acquiring a 2025 fifth-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round selection in return.
We can now confirm that the Bills are the winner of that trade after the Cowboys announced they have waived the former first-round pick on Saturday.
"Cowboys waived CB Kaiir Elam and signed RB Malik Davis from their practice squad," ESPN's Adam Schefter relayed.
Elam played in 29 games across three seasons for The Bills, but he only started in 12 of those games and proved to be a complete letdown. During that period, he allowed a completion rate of 70.3% and a passer rating of 100.0.
Following his trip to Dallas, Elam was initially put in a starting position, then lost it, only to reclaim it for an additional three contests before being sidelined in Week 11.
Overall, his performance with The Cowboys included a completion percentage of 55.6% and a passer rating of 105.0, with the latter being the lowest of his career.
The move comes even with the Cowboys being short-handed at cornerback, as Trevon Diggs is on injured reserve due to a concussion.
Now, Elam will head to waivers, where teams can claim him next week.
