The Buffalo Bills are still in search for their next head coach after moving on from Sean McDermott after nine seasons and another painful playoff loss.
Many fans have voiced their displeasure with the move, even going as far to sign a petition to bring McDermott back. However, one of McDermott's former players says firing him was the correct move.
On X, a fan asked Hughes why he left the Bills for the Houston Texans, to which he said McDermott was an unserious coach.
"Once Sean screwed up the 13 seconds with his calls 'prevent defense on every single play, I knew he wasn't serious," Hughes posted on X.
Continuing on the topic, Hughes blamed McDermott for the infamous 13 seconds loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
"If the coach can manage to lose a football game in 13 seconds after the QB put together phenomenal play after phenomenal play, that coach should be fired," Hughes said. "Seems like someone was on borrowed time."
Hughes joined the Bills in 2013 and spent nine seasons with the team. He had a pair of 10-sack seasons in 2013 and 2014. He totaled 53 sacks with the Bills before going to Houston and racking up nine sacks in 2022.
