The Buffalo Bills won't be adding cornerback Darius Slay after all.

Slay, who was claimed off waivers by the Bills on Wednesday, has informed the team that he isn't sure he wants to continue playing and will not report to Buffalo.

The news comes from Slay's agent, via ESPN's Adam Schefter:

“Slay is honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him, but he is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing,” Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN.

This is a surprising decision, to say the least, as Slay was reportedly still interested in playing after being cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Clearly, things have changed.

Slay was cut loose by the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason, which allowed him to land with the Steelers. Slay started in nine games for Pittsburgh but was clearly not the same player and struggled mightily.

The 34-year-old was a healthy scratch in Week 13 before the Steelers waived him this week.

While having Slay could've helped, this isn't some huge loss for the Bills, as Slay likely wouldn't have made much of an impact after what we've seen out of him during the season.

Buffalo had a massive need at cornerback earlier in the season, but that need has subsided a bit with Christian Benford and Tre'Davious White playing better. The return of rookie Maxwell Hairston from injury has also helped.
