The Buffalo Bills are in a bad way right now after losing two straight games and looking like a shell of the team we expected to see in 2025.
General manager Brandon Beane has several needs to address if he wants to right the ship in Buffalo, and one of those needs comes at cornerback.
Christian Benford has not lived up to his big contract extension thus far and Tre'Davious White simply isn't getting it done on the other side.
The hope is that rookie first-round pick Maxwell Hairston will return and provide the stability Buffalo needs in the cornerbacks room, but even head coach Sean McDermott cautioned against expecting that to happen.
Knowing all that, CBS Sports' Garrett Podell is predicting the Bills will acquire cornerback Riq Woolen from the Seattle Seahawks in a trade deadline deal.
Adding reinforcements to the secondary is critical for the Bills, and that's why they should aim to trade for bid-bodied Seattle cornerback Tariq Woolen, who stands at 6-foot-4-inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. The Seahawks are deep at cornerback, as evidenced by their 20-12 Week 6 road win at the AFC South-leading Jacksonville Jaguars with Woolen sidelined with a concussion.
Woolen has been the subject of a trade rumor this season, with NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reporting that teams believe he could hit the block.
Seattle has seemingly fallen out of love with Woolen in recent years and the emergences of Derion Kendrick and Josh Jobe could make him expendable, especially in the midst of a contract year.
Woolen notched a Pro Bowl in his first season and has proven he's a viable starter, at worst, in the NFL. He has struggled this season, but a career completion rate against of 55.3% and a passer rating allowed of 72.8 shows there's upside.
Perhaps a change of scenery to a team that would likely covet him would do a lot of good for Woolen, who is most definitely a better option than White.
Making this trade even more realistic is the fact that Woolen has a small salary, which is ideal for the cap-strapped Bills.
If Woolen is made available at the trade deadline, Beane should not hesitate to pull off a trade with the Seahawks. When it comes to options at cornerback, Buffalo might not get a better one than Woolen.
